Best Chicory Filter Coffee in India
What to look for in a chicory filter coffee: stated ratio, coffee quality, grind, roast date and price per kg, plus which ratio suits which cup.

Search for "chicory filter coffee" or "best filter coffee" and you will find dozens of brands. Most of them differ on three things: the quality of the coffee side, the chicory ratio, and how fresh the powder is. Here is how to choose.
What to Look For
- A stated ratio. Good brands print the split (80:20, 70:30) on the pack. "Coffee-chicory mixture" with no numbers tells you nothing about strength or cost.
- What the coffee is. Arabica gives sweetness and aroma; Robusta gives bite and crema. A chicory blend built on Arabica tastes rounder, because the chicory already supplies the body.
- Fine filter grind. Filter coffee needs a fine grind for the traditional steel filter. A coarse grind gives a thin decoction.
- Roast date. Ground coffee goes flat within weeks. Pick a seller who roasts to order.
- Price per kg, not per pack. Packs vary from 200g to 1kg. See price per kg compared.
Which Ratio?
| Ratio | Cup | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 90:10 | Bright, aromatic, a touch of mellowness | Black filter coffee, light milk |
| 80:20 | Classic balance | Everyday milk coffee |
| 70:30 | Heavier, mellow, less bitter | Strong milk coffee |
| 60:40 / 50:50 | Thick, dark, bittersweet | Very milky coffee, large batches |
Our Picks
Gray Cup's Value Blends come in four ratios, roasted medium and ground for the filter, in 500g and 1kg packs. If you want an Arabica-forward cup with just a touch of chicory, the 90/10 blend is the one.
