Best Coffee for Caffeine: Strongest Picks in India
If you want the most caffeine per cup, Robusta-heavy blends and dark roasts brewed strong are the way. Here are five high-caffeine coffees.

Three things decide how much caffeine ends up in your cup: the bean, the roast, and how you brew it.
- Bean: Robusta carries about 2,400 mg of caffeine per 100 g against Arabica's ~1,300 mg - close to double. A higher-Robusta blend means more caffeine, cup for cup.
- Roast: by weight, dark roast has slightly less caffeine than light (roasting burns a little off), but the difference is small. Roast affects taste far more than caffeine.
- Brew: more grounds, less water, longer contact, and no dilution afterward. A strong South Indian decoction or a concentrated brew delivers much more than a weak drip.
The numbers below assume a 30 g dose of grounds per cup - a strong brew.
1. Custom Arabica-Robusta Blend
Set your own Robusta ratio, from 95/5 up to 70/30. More Robusta, more caffeine - dial it to taste.
Caffeine: ~405-490 mg per 30 g cup95% Arabica / 5%-30% Robusta
2. Filter Coffee (70% Arabica, 30% Robusta)
The classic South Indian ratio. Brewed as a thick decoction, a small cup carries a serious load. Best caffeine per rupee here.
Caffeine: ~490 mg per 30 g cup70% Arabica / 30% Robusta
3. Filter Coffee (80% Arabica, 20% Robusta)
A touch smoother than 70/30, still noticeably stronger than pure Arabica.
Caffeine: ~455 mg per 30 g cup80% Arabica / 20% Robusta
4. French Roast Coffee
Deep, smoky and intense. Roast level barely changes caffeine, but people brew this one strong, so the cup usually lands high.

From ₹450
5. Basic Black Coffee
A pure-Arabica-style everyday cup - milder, but brew it at 30 g and it still delivers.

From ₹350
Caffeine: ~390 mg per 30 g cup100% Arabica
How to Brew for Maximum Caffeine
Use a 1:12 coffee-to-water ratio instead of the usual 1:16. Brew a concentrate and drink it neat or with a splash of hot water - not a full dilution. For filter coffee, make a thick decoction and go easy on the water.
A Limit Worth Knowing
Around 400 mg of caffeine a day (3-4 strong cups) is the commonly cited safe ceiling for healthy adults; less if you're pregnant or caffeine-sensitive. Past that you get jitters and worse sleep, not more energy.
