"Strong" can mean three different things: high caffeine, bold bitter flavour, or a concentrated brew. Usually people want all three. All three come from the same levers:
- Bean: Robusta - about 2,400 mg caffeine per 100 g vs Arabica's ~1,300 mg, plus more bitterness and body.
- Roast: dark (Vienna, French) - roasty, intense, low acidity.
- Brew: more grounds, less water, longer contact, no dilution.

How to Brew It Stronger
- Use a 1:10 to 1:12 ratio instead of 1:16.
- Brew a concentrate and drink it neat or barely diluted.
- Longer contact: a full 4-minute press or a slow drip beats a quick one.
- For filter coffee, make a thick decoction and use less water and milk.
Know the Ceiling
About 400 mg of caffeine a day is the common safe limit for healthy adults - roughly 3-4 strong cups. Past that it's jitters and bad sleep, not more strength.
