Best Robusta Coffee in India
India grows high-quality Robusta with more caffeine, body and crema than Arabica. Here's where Robusta shines and the best options to buy.

India is one of the world's top Robusta producers, and Indian Robusta - especially washed "parchment" Robusta - has a better reputation than the commodity Robusta used in cheap instant coffee. It brings more caffeine, a heavier body, a thick crema in espresso, and a stronger, more bitter flavour. It shines in milk coffee, espresso blends and South Indian filter.
Caffeine figures assume a strong 30 g dose of grounds per cup.
When Robusta Is the Right Choice
- Milk coffee - it punches through milk where light Arabica disappears.
- Espresso blends - 10-20% Robusta gives crema and body.
- South Indian filter - the traditional 70:30 blend depends on it.
- Maximum caffeine - roughly double Arabica, for less money.

Brewing Robusta Well
Robusta turns harsh if over-extracted. Use slightly cooler water (88-92 C), a slightly coarser grind, and don't over-brew. In espresso, keep it as a minority of the blend. With milk, it's very forgiving.
