The thick, concentrated coffee extract made by dripping hot water through ground coffee in a filter, mixed with hot milk to make filter kaapi.
In South Indian coffee, the decoction is the strong, concentrated liquid that drips into the lower chamber of a steel filter after hot water has passed through fine coffee powder, which takes about 15 to 20 minutes. It is not drunk as it is. A spoonful or two is mixed with hot milk and sugar to make filter kaapi, and it keeps in the fridge for a couple of days.
